Dave Laverty

Dave is the former CMO of IBM Business Analytics, Cognos, Surebridge, and Lotus Americas. He’s tremendously skilled at driving marketing and sales alignment, marketing productivity, and creating a marketing organization that services sales.

Dave draws on thirty years of executive leadership experience in technology marketing and the software industry. He has demonstrated ability in developing clear, strategic go-to-market plans to drive growth and market expansion. He is experienced in helping firms with organization design, and in aligning sales and marketing teams to improve pipeline management, forecast accuracy and accountability.  He assists organizations in refining their value proposition and narrative, brand position, and advises organizations on digital engagement strategy and execution. 

His leadership spans both large complex organizations as well as early-stage ventures.  Previously he was Chief Marketing Officer of IBM Corporation’s Analytics Division, responsible for positioning the firm as a global industry leader in analytic solutions across industries. He facilitated numerous acquisitions growing the IBM division to over $8B in revenue.   

Dave served as Chief Marketing Officer for Cognos Corporation, an analytics and performance management software company, growing the firm from $450M to over $1B during his tenure.  Before Cognos, he held senior management positions as Vice President of Marketing at Surebridge,Inc., a venture backed cloud services provider acquired by Navisite, and with Lotus Development Corporation as Vice President of Marketing, Americas. 

Dave is a senior advisor to Bridge Growth Partners Private Equity supporting its portfolio companies with strategic marketing and sales advice. He is a board member for Finalsite Inc., a SaaS solutions provider focused on the education market. He is a board member for Demand Spring, and Chairman of the Board for the Rhode Island PBS Foundation. Dave is a graduate of Bryant University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
